The Apeman A80 might be small but it is actually sort of a big deal! I’ve tested quite a few action cameras from non-GoPro brands, and this one strikes a great balance between quality and price. It’s only about £80 but the image and video quality is sharp, different from those normal cheap “4K” action cameras. I must say it is a Go Pro killer (considering its price).
- Novatek 96660 Chip
- 4K Ultra HD Capture
- 20MP Photos
- 2-Inch HD LCD Display
- Waterproof up to 30m depth
- Double 1050mAh batteries
- Storage: micro SD up to 128GB
Apeman A80 adopts Novatek 96660 chip so we can expect much better and video recording. But in reality the Novatek 96660 CPU doesn’t support 4k recording so you’re actually get 2K recordings that are interpolated to 4K recordings, but this is the same for pretty much cheap gopros, so don’t imagine you’re going to buy a cheap action camera that says 4K is actually 4K. Watch the video below and you’ll know the video quality, I have to say, it’s pretty good for this price.
And what may make customers feel warm is that it comes with double 1050mAh batteries, which will enable us to shoot longer, and a elegant bag. The packaging is very decent and cool. Inside comes with loads of accessories as seen in the description. The product looks durable to me ( but still it will depend on how you handle it with care). The camera is direct to the point, user friendly and lots of cool options/features to play with.
One thing I noticed was that the anti-shake didn’t work at all. When I’m walking, it doesn’t appear to be stabilised at all despite having this setting turned on. Another thing is that The software has some issues, which freezes every now and then while changing the options on the settings.
All in all, it’s a good camera to buy if you’re not using it for professional photography. It’s enough to use for normal recording.
